During EMG training, the participant learns to control their muscle tension. The aim is to reduce excessive muscle tension, which often manifests as chronic pain. It is therefore most commonly used to treat conditions such as tension-type headaches or back pain.<\/p>\n

However, as well as relaxing the affected areas, it is also possible to build up muscle strength. This is used, for example, in pelvic floor exercises as part of incontinence therapy or in the rehabilitation of weakened muscles.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Biofeedback is particularly helpful here, as it clearly highlights to participants an elevated level of muscle tension (to which they may already have become accustomed). Even the slightest changes in muscle tension can be detected. Another major advantage is the availability of reference values for individual muscles, which can be used as a guide.<\/p>\n

The electrodes can be positioned across an entire muscle (one sensor for the entire shoulder musculature) or attached individually on both sides of the body (one sensor per shoulder muscle = 2 sensors) in order to identify and correct any imbalances.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
